Bill Spadia tries a 25 burger in Toms River, NJ

You know, I’m traveling around the state to spread the message of common sense solutions to the problems plaguing our great nation. One of the pillars of our economy and societies are the many small businesses that dot the landscape.

Over the next few months, I’ll be coming to your area to highlight some of the best that New Jersey has to offer.

On Thursday, I had a great opportunity thanks to my friend Jillian from the Toms River Police Department to meet business owners Steve and Dennis who started Burger 25 nine years ago.

Steve has an inspiring story after he lost his hearing and redirected his resources to a business that would protect his family’s income.

Not only did he launch a 25 burger, but after successful surgery with a cochlear implant, Steve killed it off in the mortgage industry as well as running one of the most successful restaurants in Ocean County if not the entire state.

Even the couple’s son Aiden works in the company, and makes a smart decision to learn the family business and turn it into a career.

This is a great story to turn negativity into positive and overcome adversity that throws us all.

Beyond the great story, there is the food. Twenty-five delicious burgers are ready to try.

The place was crowded at 3pm although a little late for lunch and too early for dinner.

When you go, I recommend Burger #12 – The Smack. Inspired by Denise – due to her husband’s suspicions – she became their number one seller. It’s the serious dining version of the popular fast food burger.

While you’re there, you’ll want to eat a milkshake too. Creamy, cool, soothing and delicious.

It really is a great place and has a backstory, one of the heroes of NJ’s Small Businesses!
