Recent photos show the restoration of the facade and the new, glass-clad upper volume largely complete. The construction elevator remains attached to the northern elevations as internal work progresses, but should be dismantled soon.
Much of the Art Deco facade decoration at 787 Eleventh Avenue has been preserved and renovated.
Only a few parts of the original exterior have been replaced by a modern commercial front of two auto showrooms. Jaguar and Land Rover occupy the southern half, while Nissan plans to capture the opposite northern end.
The old rooftop barrier now serves as a landscaped balcony of 12,000 square feet for the tenants, complete with a private tennis court. This space will provide occupants with panoramic views of the Hudson River, the surrounding Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and the Midtown, Manhattan skyline. The lobby was renovated and the seventh floor removed during the transformation process in order to create a double height space. Widely spaced interior columns enhance the spacious impression of the office floors.
Office facilities include a private garage with executive parking, on-site bike storage, 24/7 on-site security, and shuttle bus service. The partnership with the Mercedes Workers’ Club will also provide access to the 80,000 square foot health club across the street.
The expected completion date is posted on the build plate for the current January.
