ELITE AUCTIONS announces August 19 auction of historic mansion and local landmark in Suffolk, Virginia

Truitt House Auction on August 19 at 9 a.m.

This wonderful house is known to the people of Suffolk and to the people who come to stay here as a bed and breakfast from far and wide as a very special place.

ELITE AUCTIONS, the leading luxury real estate auction and marketing company, has announced the latest addition to its portfolio of residential, commercial, and undeveloped real estate listings that sell at auction without reserve.

Going to auction on August 19 is Truitt House, an 8,500-square-foot mansion built in 1909 for wealthy businessman George W. Truitt and restored over a decade ago by its current owner who recently converted it into a bed and breakfast.

In the late 1980s, 204 Bank St was registered as a historic site on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.

The condo was recently listed at $1.2 million according to publicly available real estate data sources.

Some of the home’s most notable features include nine fireplaces, four of which are marble, a large ballroom on the third floor that has been converted into a massive owner’s suite, an octagonal study, crystal chandeliers, a musician’s mezzanine on the top floor, and a butler’s pantry that houses more than 200 years. of cypress countertops.

The mansion full of bank-shaped masonry was a rarity among the private residences of the time and made it unique among other places in the Suffolk Historic District: steel beams in the basement and elsewhere, together with brick walls, were four bricks thick.

Commenting on the announcement, Randy Hadaway, founder and CEO of Elite Auctions, said, “This amazing home is known to the people of Suffolk and to people who come to stay here as B&Bs from all over the world as a very special place. It was built for someone special, in Indeed, he was one of the first millionaires in the city, and it was built to withstand just about anything life could throw at him.”

Tara MacLean, Elite President and Project Director for the upcoming auction, says the massive property was clearly built to make a lasting impression on everyone who sees it.

“And the house still does that today, and will continue to do so long into the future. The Troit House deserves the prominent place it has occupied for over a century, both geographically and in the hearts and minds of the people of Suffolk.”

Truitt House, at 204 Bank St, is available for public and private weekends 1pm-4pm from Saturday 6 August to Sunday 14 August To pre-order to bid or to schedule a tour, call 844-94 -ELITE or email [email protected] .com.
