The Sur La Table range from Gibson Homewares spans several product categories.
chicago- Along with a host of new products, Gibson Homewares will officially unveil its new name and new website at The Inspired Home Show here later this week.
After being known as Gibson Overseas for decades, the California-based Commerce company announced a name change last fall, to Gibson Homeware, to reflect a diverse product portfolio that extends significantly beyond the table top.
“Over the past several years, Gibson has evolved from a constant tabletop player to a leader in housewares,” said Sal Gabay, CEO of Gibson Homewares. “GibsonHomewares.com is part of our company’s long-term positioning and vision.”
The website is organized by category and brand to emphasize Gibson’s increased brand focus. It features partners like Martha Stewart, Tia Mowry, and YouTube sensation Babish.
“Our new website and updated company name are a more appropriate reflection of Gibson’s growing capabilities across categories and brand-oriented approach,” said David Nicklin, senior vice president of Marketing & Licensing. “The new Gibson Homewares website is a trusted resource not only for all things Gibson, but for our entire industry.”
At the show, Gibson will present new pieces from Babish, Martha Stewart, and Tia Mowry, and an all-new Sur la Table collection.
The Sur la Table collection includes cookware, cutlery and kitchenware, as well as tabletop, serving and food storage items.
The collection aims to expand the brand beyond select Sur La Table retail stores and into more established retail channels across the country, according to Nicklin, and is aimed at “home cooks with a refined taste for high-end housewares,” Gibson said. Two Sur la Table brands, Sur La table and Sur La Table Kitchen Essentials.More details were not available at press time.
At the Martha Stewart brand, the Lockton 10-Piece Cookware Set debuted two new colors—butter and teal.
“Butter yellow is a new trending color that we’re launching this year,” said Alex Wittner, senior vice president of Homeware Business Development. “So, this is the perfect time to introduce it with the Martha Stewart brand.”
The set consists of a Dutch oven, a pair of skillets and skillets, and a skillet with lid.
The Binging with Babish brand, a partnership with chef, filmmaker, and YouTube personality Andrew Rea, is expanding its enameled cast iron offerings to include a 3 Quart Braiser and a 13 x 9 inch Baker “lasagna pan,” both in beautiful black.
Durable and versatile, cast iron cookware is one of the hottest trends in housewares, according to Gibson.
“In just a few short years, cast iron has gone from representing only a small part of the cookware market to a large and growing percentage of it,” said Dar Gabay, Gibson’s Chief Operating Officer and Homeware Division President. Some expect the market to reach $1.7 billion by the end of 2026.”
Gibson also offers a stainless steel pizza shaker and cast iron cookbook holder with the Babish line logo silhouette.
Rea’s channel, ‘Binging with Babish’, has 9.52 million subscribers and is very similar to the 18-34 demographic. The channel features Rea, usually from the neck down, in his private kitchen outfitted for a studio production, as he recreates dishes from popular movies and TV shows. Babish’s high-performance cutlery is a top seller on Amazon, according to Gibson.
“Our content-rich brands like Babish have built a huge, loyal fan following quite naturally,” Nicklin said.
Meanwhile, Spicy Cloves is a new line of decorative borosilicate glass bakeware with oven-to-table appeal from the Spice by Tia Mowry collection. With this collection, Gibson is taking advantage of a recent uptick in sales in decorative glass bakeware.
“I love Spice because it’s fun and fresh and inspired from all over the world,” said Gibson Homewares, SVP Creative Laurie Gates.
In cookware, Gibson launches the Kenmore Wyatt 5-Piece Multifunction Set in response to market demand for efficient, practical, and affordable cookware that doesn’t take up much storage space. The set is constructed of heavy gauge aluminum in a compact design that nests entirely inside a 12″ x 11″ scalloped grill pan. The set includes stainless steel mesh accessories – a frying basket and a steam plate – and a tempered glass lid. The multi-purpose grill pan doubles as a casserole dish with the lid held securely in place by hidden magnets inside the comfort mold grip.
Gibson also offers Soho Lounge glassware, an extension of the popular Soho dinnerware line, and Urban Solo, an interactive 12-piece dinnerware set in a round shape, an alternative to the current smooth square shape for which the line is known.
Gibson is curating the culinary scene at the show this year, which will be headlined by Martha Stewart, who has a licensed line with Gibson, and will also feature Ria, Meredith Abbott of Sur La Table, celebrity chefs Rick Bayliss, Jill Gand and Fabio Viviani and many others.
