Golf Business News – New Links Course to open in Mauritius in 2023

Heritage golf club in Mauritius to unveil the first and only contemporary links cycle in the Indian Ocean in 2023 with the opening of Golf Links Reserve.

Located in the leafy Southwest region of Mauritius, the stunning new course boasts panoramic ocean views from every hole and provides an unparalleled experience of pure golf drama.

Along with the migraine cycle, by ChateaFrom 2023, La Réserve Golf Links will become a new venue for the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open for the DP World Tour.

La Réserve Golf Links, intended for club members and residents of two luxury resorts and villas on the Heritage Golf Club beach, was jointly designed by 2010 champion Louis Oosthuizen, along with renowned architect Peter Matkovich.

Inspired by the wild open spaces of gorgeous coastal connections, the stadium’s elevated pitches, soaring vegetation and stunning views of the tropical Mauritius bays and southern beaches promise an exhilarating gaming experience.

“It’s a tough course and not for the faint-hearted,” said Oosthuizen, who has created a distinctive set of rear tees to challenge the best players. “We worked with the land to create a strategic undulating path that plays in the style of traditional links, with running lanes, pot stashes and tall grasses. The site is stunningly beautiful with great views of the Indian Ocean.”

La Réserve Golf Links plays alongside nature. Positioned alongside a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, home to countless birds and wildlife, the former sugarcane fields have been delicately cultivated with native island grasses, creating new species-rich grasslands, encouraging biodiversity and sequestering valuable carbon .

All work is carefully monitored, which contributes to future Geo-certified development status, the global standard for designing and building sustainable courses.

The addition of another 18-hole championship course, which will host the first DP World Tour event in December 2023, makes Heritage Golf Club the only 45-hole golf destination in the Indian Ocean.

Jonathan Mintheth, General Manager of Heritage Golf Club, said: “La Reserve Golf Links is a game-changing course in Mauritius and Heritage Golf Club as a world-class golf destination. With panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, this piece of land is extraordinary and fulfills our vision to create a world-class course. For international golfers who seek the purest golf experience in one of the most beautiful natural settings on Earth.”

The Heritage Golf Club is located in the 2,500-hectare Bel Ombre area and benefits from two luxurious five-star beach resorts, including the Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort.

Guests also have the option of staying in a luxury villa or, for a great experience, a private suite within Le Château, a 19th-century farmhouse overlooking the golf course.

La Réserve Golf Links, intended for members and residents of heritage resorts only, will open in December 2023.
