Google Assistant is now fully powered by Abode’s home security system

Residence home users just got a new way to control their home safety net with the Google Assistant. Now, Google’s smart voice assistant can act as a messenger, powering the entire Abode system – including arming and disarming the network.

Abode is a home security network that operates in the US and Canada, and can be installed and operated by customers on their own — or people can add monthly pricing plans that can add cellular backup or professional monitoring of their network.

Residence home customers can also, now, run their entire security system through any Google Assistant-enabled devices starting today, not just select features that were added last year. Google Assistant has some control over Abode’s lights, switches, and sockets, but now the voice assistant can handle every detail from monitoring and controlling your security camera to door sensors, garage door openings to locks.

The commands are simple. To turn the home alarm on or off, customers just need to say “OK Google, raise the residence in remote mode”, to lock the house, or “OK Google, deactivate the residence” to unlock their space. However, customers will need to say – out loud – the four through six security code to disarm the note-worthy alarm should they arrive home with friends. However, once their network is disarmed, and within their own homes, people can also ask about the state of the security system and other products in the space.

For example, do you want to check the garage door of the house, whether it is open or closed? Abode can use the Google Assistant to poll those details just by asking out loud — or he can open the garage door with a voice request, too. People can use similar requests to see the status of their door and window sensors and smart locks as well as through the voice assistant, and they don’t have to walk around the house for a visual check.

If customers use security cameras, they can also play a live stream directly through a Google Home device with a screen, such as the Lenovo Smart Display, all by asking out loud.

“The updated Abode integration with Google Assistant is a perfect example of our unwavering commitment to evolving our system and working in harmony with the partners we share space with,” said Chris Carney, CEO of Abode. “We have pledged to provide customers with Google Assistant integration that has enabled users to use their Assistant-enabled devices across every possible application of the accommodation system and this latest release delivers on that promise. As new features and functionality become available to us, we will continue to update all of our integrations and partnerships.”
