Guess the rent of this studio apartment in Monte Vista

More people are looking to move to San Antonio in 2022. (Especially from Austin!) And rents in San Antonio are not dropping. From finding your perfect new home to negotiating rental rates, searching for an apartment in San Antonio can be an amazing experience. Inspired by San Francisco’s sister magazine SFGate, MySA researches local real estate showing the best, worst, and everything here in the Alamo City. Let’s guess the rent.

Sorry. We won’t be touring a classic revival mansion this week. Instead, we’ll take a trip to the historic Monte Vista neighborhood near San Antonio College for this 450-square-foot home that’s billed as a studio apartment.

This is small but you might be surprised how well the owner manages to fit in the space. The listing says the place is ideal for a “responsible student,” but also requires the tenant to show proof of income equal to three times the monthly rent.

The “responsible student” may be doing a lot of work just by seeing the rent.

Let’s dive in.

The kitchen is directly to your left.

As soon as you step foot, you will catch up to the kitchen on your left. It contains pretty much one person will need, including a microwave, toaster oven, and countertop stove.

The owner even found space for a washer and dryer.

There is also a refrigerator next to the washer and dryer combination. They really fit everything here.

Swing and you will see your living room area with sofa and wardrobe. The place has only one air conditioning unit. I wonder how that works on those hot summer days.

Wait a minute.

Hey, you.

Hello my friend. The dog is not included but the listing says the studio is furnished.

I’ve said it before, sliding barn doors are in this year. It sounds like a little more here, but it’s essential for what’s behind it.

Next to the bathroom you will find this cottage. Or is it an office?

no. It is your bed.
no. It is your bed.

craigslist

yes. It is your bed. Murphy bed to be more precise. I can’t really tell from this picture, but the legs are definitely going to hang off the end of the bed.

This is probably one of the biggest selling points of this studio apartment.

Then we get to this last piece of the studio apartment. It’s definitely comforting in some sort of strawberry lemonade. But will rent take away that feeling?

The monthly rent is $1,000, according to the post on Craigslist. The listing is also on Zillow, which means it’s on the multi-listing service, so it’s legitimate.

The address was not disclosed on both listings, but on Craigslist it says the apartment is not far from restaurants like Barbaro and La Fonda.

That’s the other factor, with the security deposit, application fee, administrative fee (?) and the first month’s rent due upon moving, and the first month’s payment being $2,500.

Zamper says studio apartments in Monte Vista average $799 a month.
