IHA Shorten Home Appliances Show – Home Furnishings News

Rosemont, Illinois – The Board of Directors of the International Houseware Association has announced that the inspirational home show will be one day shorter next March, and is now scheduled for March 5-7.

A statement said the move was an additional safety precaution due to COVID-19 and cancels the last day of the show. IHA will provide logistical information regarding schedule change of exhibitor exit dates in the near future, and changes to hotel reservations can be made through OnPeak, the official housing provider of IHA, without penalty to all exhibitors and attendees.

The show will return to its normal pattern, for four days, from Saturday to Tuesday in 2023.

In addition, the Board has also announced additional policies and procedures due to COVID-19. All attendees and exhibitors — including staff associated with event setup and disruption — will be required to show proof of vaccination or submit a negative COVID-19 test taken in the previous 72 hours prior to receiving the badge at McCormick Place, where the show is taking place, a statement said. A review of proof of vaccination and negative tests will be handled by a third party company and more details on how to provide this information will come in the future.

The IHA said that once at McCormick Place, exhibitors and attendees must follow additional protocols mandated by the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago. Currently, this includes an authorization to conceal enclosed spaces and proof of vaccination requirements for the purchase and consumption of food and beverages in designated common eating/drinking areas. Mobility orders are allowed regardless of vaccination status. Updated details of these authorizations can be found on the Chicago, Cook County, and McCormick Place websites.

In addition, due to the mandate of the City of Chicago, proof of vaccination will be required to attend any of the IHA events during The Inspired Home Show centered around food and drink, including the Independent Retailers Network reception on Friday, March 4, the award dinner and celebration on Saturday, 5 March, and the Networks After Dark Reception on Sunday, March 6. Although proof of vaccination will be required for dining at the on-site cafes, “grab and go” options will be available to all attendees.

The Inspired Home Show will also provide rapid on-site antigen and PCR testing, so international visitors can test in advance to fly back to their home country if needed. Unvaccinated attendees may also use this service to be tested on-site to prove a negative test entry to the show.

The IHA has also addressed inaccurate information people have encountered in search queries that says the show has been cancelled—it hasn’t, and the IHA is working to remove that information, she said.
