What happened to Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment? Does it still exist? Here’s what happened to the Oxford apartments in Milwaukee.
Netflix Dahmer – The Beast: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story It still dominates the streaming and chatting service on social media.
While the show intended to focus on the victim’s stories and police failures, rather than attempting to humanize Dahmer, it was heavily criticized by some members of the victims’ families for triggering, once again, unnecessary trauma.
The drama also sparked renewed interest in the horrific affair from viewers who may not have previously known what Dahmer actually did and how he managed to get away with it for so long.
Dahmer’s apartment building, where he was finally captured and arrested, makes a big appearance in the series. Viewers are now wondering what happened to this real-life location, more than 30 years after these terrible murders took place.
Is Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment still there?
Where did Jeffrey Dahmer live?
Dahmer lived in Apartment No. 213 inside the Oxford Apartments, 924 North 25th Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A replica of his apartment is featured prominently in the series, in addition to his actual apartment.
In the series, we see how the police thought he purposely moved into the low-income, predominantly black neighborhood in order to assault gay young men. Dahmer denied it, saying that it was because that was all he could bear.
The apartment building contains 49 one-bedroom apartments. Several residents, including neighbor Glenda Cleveland (played by Niecy Nash in the series) have issued complaints about his behavior and the smell of his apartment.
Shortly after Tracy Edwards fled his apartment in 1991, police found the remains of 11 men scattered around the apartment.
Dahmer also lived at his grandmother’s house at 2357 S 57th Street, Milwaukee for a while. Dahmer killed three men in his grandmother’s house, dismembering their bodies in the basement.

Shortly after Dahmer’s arrest, many residents of the Oxford Apartments immediately left. Apartments remained available for rent, but there were not many people detained because of the horrific murders that occurred there.
Today, the building is no longer standing. Dahmer’s apartment building was demolished and completely demolished in November 1992, at the request of the victim’s families.
Marquette Wire reports that developer Ogden Homes, who purchased the plot of land from the city for just $500 in 2012, has not been allowed to build any other buildings or structures on the land.
The Milwaukee site is now an empty, grassy patch of land surrounded by a tall metal fence with no satisfactory reference to Dahmer whatsoever.
