Northern double reunions were held in Surrey

DOBSON – The Millennium Charter Academy hosted three cross-country meetups at Fisher River Park during the first three weeks of September.

Coverage of the second MCA meeting, which took place on September 8, was included in the September 10 edition of News. Although Millennium itself did not compete in the second meet, other local schools such as Mount Airy, Elkin, White Plains Christian School, and Surry Homeschool did.

MCA Meet No. 1

This year’s first Millennium Gathering saw more than 220 students – 123 boys and 98 girls – compete at Fisher River Park on September 1. Middle school races were also held.

High school boys participated in the 5,000m run in runners from 18 schools. Teams with at least five contestants were eligible for the team contest, which assigned points values based on their individual endings. The school with the lowest total points was the victor.

Only runners who were part of the team competition were awarded points. As a result, the point values do not always equal the end of the feud between the entire field.

Mount Airy had the highest score of any home team in the boys competition, placing sixth out of 12 qualified teams with 167 points. Elkin ranked eighth with 195 points, followed by Surry County Schools at number ten with 240 points, followed by Surry Home Educators at 11th.

Forsyth Country Day’s George Lawson won the boys’ race with a time of 5km with a time of 17:24.92. Elkin Connor’s ball led all domestic competitors with a time of 18:37.57, good enough for seventh place among 123 runners.
