People: Clearwater. Gately Legal JGS Dillon And More

Birmingham-based Clearwater International, a corporate financial advisor, has strengthened its European debt advisory team with the appointment of two senior officials.

Simon Chambers and Richard Clarke joined the team as partners alongside current partner Chris Smith. They will become part of the European debt advisory practice making it one of the largest in Europe with a team of 35 people, including nine partners.

The appointments follow a period of sustained growth in Clearwater International’s debt advisory business, which has completed more than 480 debt advisory transactions since its inception.

Beth Mather and Tom Rush

Gateley Legal has announced two key appointments to the company’s team.

Partner Beth Mather has been named head of the company’s national team, while Tom Rush, also a partner, has been named company president in the Birmingham office.

Mather joined Gateley Legal as an intern and became a partner in 2019, while Rush joined in 2008 as a newly qualified attorney and was later promoted to partner in 2017.

GJS Dillon, a Worcestershire-based commercial property consultancy, has expanded with the appointment of a new commercial surveyor.

Anneka Wilks has joined the Evaluation and Professional Services team as a Senior Surveyor.

Jonathan Mountford, Director of Assessments and Professional Services, GJS Dillon, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Anneka as a member of our team. We are seeing a lot of activity in the local commercial real estate market and Anneka’s expertise in surveying, appraisals and refurbishment of commercial leases and rentals will be invaluable.”

Annie Taplin, a sports business management graduate, has joined West Bromwich-based business partnerships and recruitment specialists, Sporting Group International, based in the UK, as a partner with a brand and marketing executive.

Having recently graduated from the University of Hartbury with first class honors, Taplin will work closely with Charlie Bannister, President of International Sports Group Sponsorship, to develop the company’s relationships with sports rights holders and global brands around the world. She will also lead the development of business social media channels.

Bannister said, “Annie has experienced commercial sales, marketing and content management in her career thus far. She recently graduated with a first degree from a reputable sports educational institution, Hartbury, and is very passionate about professional sports, having followed multiple teams and events for several years.

“With the recent opening of a new European office and our ambitions to expand our partnerships and staffing business across the continent, Annie will play a key role in supporting our operations and we are delighted to welcome her to the team.”

Sporting Group International currently operates from its UK operations at Guardian House in Bromwich, an Asian office in New Delhi, India, and recently opened a European office in Dublin.
