Veteran trade show executives Dave Savola and Jo Ann Miller Marshall are back together again, with plans to revitalize temporary business in the Dallas Market Center, boost home and gift categories and capitalize on the growing Texas residential market and its interest in home furnishings.
Both bring decades of trade show experience to the effort. Savola, who joined DMC this summer as a business development strategist, has worked in executive positions with International Market Centers and AmericasMart. Miller Marshall, who is about to celebrate her one-year anniversary as Senior Vice President of Leasing, has spent more than 25 years in leadership positions with AmericasMart, including Executive Vice President of Trade Shows. Prior to moving to DMC, she held the position of Executive Vice President and Head of Trade Shows at IMC.
“For me, Dallas is a huge opportunity,” Savola said. Home accents today in June. There is a reason why so many people and companies relocate to Texas. At the center of the market, this opportunity is to participate in an environment that embraces the momentum and spirit of partnership. Joining DMC also provides an opportunity to work with friends like Jo Ann, who has been a respected colleague for a long time. Bringing the band back together, so to speak, would be fun.
“Also, I am excited to develop collaborative strategies on where companies best suit (on our campus) and to contribute to the growth of both our existing and loyal showrooms, and the new showrooms we have just joined. Jo Ann returned to business in October last year and has I’ve accomplished a lot already, increasing summer temperatures to be the biggest show in over 10 years. There’s no doubt that this is just the beginning.”
Miller Marshall said, “Dallas and the center of the market are on fire. It’s undeniable, and it’s palatable. Like Dave, I saw an opportunity that’s pure and unrestricted…and I’m excited to collaborate with her.” [DMC CEO] Cindy Morris and the dynamic leadership team you assembled. It’s clear to me that listening to – and really listening to – what customers need and want is the driving force behind success in Dallas.
“I’ve spoken with a lot of sellers since I got here, and they are all looking for a market that 1) offers buyers, 2) makes offering profitable, affordable, easy and fun, and 3) promotes a safety and health-environment of the subconscious. The Dallas Market Center verifies all Those chests, plus more. Now, getting a chance to work with Dave again; well, that’s just amazing.”
