- The latest Porsche concept will be available to drive exclusively inside Grand Touring 7 Starting September 29th.
Say what you will about the metaverse, it has cool cars. However, one of the drawbacks is that you cannot drive the new Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Spyder on public roads. Porsche’s latest concept car is part of a program launched in 2013 between game developer Polyphony Digital and automakers. The program works with companies including Porsche, which designs its own version of the grand tourer and allows fans to experience it through the world of video games in Grand Tours.
Porsche’s latest addition to the Vision GT world is a convertible version of its launched concept Grand Touring 7 in March. Like the supercar concept it’s based on, the Vision GT Spyder wraps velvet body panels over a tall, low-hanging frame. It shares the same rectangular headlights, which, as Porsche explained, refer to the Taycan. In addition to the Porsche branding on the rear bumper, the Spyder now incorporates the company’s name in a large font that runs the length of the vehicle.
Porsche hasn’t given any details on the Vision GT Spyder, but the GT concept it’s based on is an all-wheel drive electric supercar with the performance numbers to back it up. Reaching 62 mph takes 2.1 seconds. Doubling this speed requires an additional 3.1 seconds. Maximum power numbers are listed as 1,100 horsepower, or up to 1,274 with increased speed and launch control. The coupe is able to reach a top speed of 217 mph.
The Spyder will join the coupe version of the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo concept in the game starting September 29. Both Porsche, along with already in-game creations from the likes of Mercedes, Lamborghini and Mazda, will be drivable in Grand Touring 7 Universe.
