At 25 he moved to Boston It was where he learned historical restoration that helped launch his career in San Diego Making high quality decorative panels that include murals, wood grain, foam, and glass for a discerning client who rapidly expanded beyond San Diego. His reputation was such that he made his projects 100% referral dependent and enabled him to make a comfortable living while beginning to focus on his art which soon captivated collectors around the world, fascinated by his totally unique style of blending found objects, collecting Abstract painting and mixed media.
The self-taught, gentle-spoken Berne, who prefers to fly under the radar and let his work speak for itself, considers himself among the luckiest artists, able to make a good living and travel the world doing what he loves. “I’ve been fortunate to have had some breaks early in my career that revealed my work, and my passion for it to people who loved my style, which in turn fueled the demand for it. I was able to nurture those networks and continue to do so.” He added, “This upcoming exhibition includes works that I consider to reflect the most prominent features of my career, a mixture of media that I am proud to display in my hometown.”
