Text description provided by the architects. The Texas Tower will reinvigorate the downtown Houston neighborhood with connections to the Arts District, Market Square, and Buffalo Bayou. This forty-seven storey tower has been specifically designed with the tenant experience in mind to create an active and creative environment to live, work and play in the heart of downtown.
The 1.2 million square foot tower was focused on two primary goals. The first is to maximize opportunities to connect tenants to outdoor spaces, and the second is to reinvent the ground floor lobby experience as a social hub and rich extension of the work space.
The Texas Tower is placed diagonally on its site to achieve its goals, creating a strong and distinct civic presence on the Houston skyline. Not only does this orientation make a welcoming gesture to the neighborhood surrounding the building, it also maximizes the outdoor spaces for the tenants with three large, lush rooftop gardens providing open areas for socializing while creating direct connections from the ground floor lobby to the retail and leisure spaces that enhance the liveliness of the extension of the workspace. It also positions the lobby as a central hub of activity perfectly surrounded by numerous retail and social amenities for both the tenants and the adjacent community.
The stunning silhouette of the entire tower is designed from the inside out. The highly efficient rectangular floor plate has been carefully optimized with large drop holes. These elements increase the tenants’ ability to create a variety of exciting interior layouts, be it access, social hubs or a sense of community through vertical connectivity, all without hampering the need for future updates to the interior layout. External terraces are included in these prominent bays, providing access to the natural environment even in the upper levels of the tower, providing an elevated extension of the workplace and an organic gathering space.
Pioneering the highest standards of sustainability and wellness, the Texas Tower has achieved LEED Platinum, WiredScore, and WELL construction standards. Built to the highest standards developed in Houston, Texas Tower creates an environment that is supportive of the health and well-being of its tenants while contributing to a more sustainable future.
