The main products on my first home wish list

If you asked me a year ago if I thought I’d buy a home sometime soon, the answer would be a resounding “no.” If you asked me in January if I thought I would buy a house in a few months, the answer would be still It was “definitely not”. So I really can’t believe I’m about to write that sentence, but I just bought my first home. The process was absolutely gigantic. I fell in love with every home I did a show in, stressed if said shows were good enough (most of the time, they weren’t), and of course, started shopping for furniture and home décor right away.

Most of the time, this shopping was devastatingly premature – losing the home you love is a different kind of heartbreak I wasn’t expecting. But the process was totally worth it, as today I’m officially the homeowner. And now all the shopping I do isn’t just daydreaming, it’s essential.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent seemingly countless hours perusing every decor and furniture store I could find, creating mood board after mood board after mood board, and dragging my husband to any antique shop in a 50-mile radius. I have the time of my life coordinating the pieces that will make our house a home and go up a pit of despair because I think I’ve looked at about 100,000 different TV stands and still The One was not found. While I haven’t yet found the perfect media closet to complete the living room, I’ve found just about everything we’ll need for our first home, and I’m sharing them all with you below.

kitchen

Our kitchen might be my favorite room in the house. I’ve got this perfect area for a little nook by the window, and that will be one of the first projects I’m working on. Everything else on my kitchen shopping list has to do with upgrading random things I’ve accumulated over the years as I’ve been moving from apartment to apartment. I try to keep the kitchen products as neutral as possible, because eventually I’m going to paint the cabinets green (which makes my years-long dream of having a Dakota Johnson kitchen finally come true), and I don’t want anything that would conflict with that.

Living room

I’m so excited about the living room. It’s a little small, but after meticulously measuring the space and all the furniture I’d like to have, I’m confident it would be the perfect area for entertaining and totally enjoying the greens.

Caitlin 3 Seater Sectional

After flipping between a leather sofa and a green sofa, I landed on green. It would be the perfect centerpiece to build the rest of your living room decor around.

Ottoman Caitlin

When it comes to the team ottoman coffee table versus the group coffee table, I’m firmly in the team ottoman. You can’t beat the extra seating it offers when you have guests and extra possessions underfoot when you’re just looking for the ultimate in comfort on a night out.

Maxwell accent chair

Even before we found a home I knew I’d want a big plush chair to read in. This is perfect.

Samsung

Frame QLED 4K Smart TV

We’ve been introducing the Samsung Frame TV on a few home tours recently and I’m now 100% here. I need this in my life and living room. STAT.
Weaver

tone mirror

The Mirror of Anthropology is unfortunately not in my budget, but fortunately for all of us, there is no shortage of dupes.

eat the food

The dining room is one area I’m still not confident in, so if in a year you’ve seen me at The Everygirl show me a dining room that doesn’t have any of these products, please understand because I had a crisis and started from scratch.

office. headquarters. center

My husband and I work from home full time, so it’s extremely important that we put all our standstill when it comes to the home office. At the start of the pandemic, we didn’t think much about our desks and chairs, and eventually I chose form over function. That’s going to change in our new space—hello, standing desks and comfy chairs! I know this sounds boring, but I also have plans to create a reading corner in my dreams. Life is about balance, after all.

Bedrooms

I paint the master bedroom a moody dark color (currently leaning toward navy), so the decor will probably be light and airy to make up for that.

All is well

Luxe Hybrid Mattress

This Allswell Luxe Hybrid mattress comes to me (and you!) Highly recommended by Ally, Head of Sales and Marketing at The Everygirl Media Group. I was sold on her recommendation alone, then I saw the price and it became a must.
the umbrella

Linen duvet cover set

I finally take the plunge and invest in a good duvet set. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Parachute and can’t wait to make my dream cloud bed.
hatching

sunrise alarm

I simply can’t sleep without the sound of thunderstorms rumbling in the distance, and while my Alexa can do that, it can’t do anything else that Hatch Restore can do. Sunrise wake-ups, mood lighting, evening routine, and so much more – I can’t wait to have this on my counter.
pottery store

Malcolm 26″ desk

I’ll be honest here: I just bought a vintage pair of bedside tables that I absolutely love. But if I can’t find those, I’ll go with a pair of those.
USA Rugs

Tassel rug

I want a big colorful rug to tie the whole room together. If you go with navy walls as I plan, this rug would be absolutely perfect. And if not, there are more than 10 other colors available.

Technique

Have you ever watched the original Disney classic Smart House? Yes, that’s what I want (except for the part where the AI turns evil, obviously). It’s been a game the whole moment I’ve connected my bedside lamps to Alexa – and now everything in the home has to be smart.

Cleaning and organizing

Listen, I love a clean, organized home. But I don’t like cleaning or organizing. Every few months, I get tired of the state of my wardrobe, taking everything out, folding and organizing, only to leave it in a mess again in a week. But after watching a few episodes of Edit Home, I open a new page. Everything in the house will have a place, and I will try to do my best to make sure it stays that way. Don’t be surprised if you start to see me post weekly restocking ASMR videos on TikTok.

Dyson

V8 Engine Vacuum Cleaner

I’ve been telling anyone who will listen that I want this void. If I were to do a chore that I absolutely despise, I might as well have a tool to make it as easy as possible. And investing in a good vacuum sounds like the kind of thing an adult could do, you know?
Bissell

Carpet and upholstery cleaner

With three dogs with no sense of personal space, hand shampooing is a must. The number of times I dropped coffee or wine all over the sofa (or rather one of the three little family members who never left me alone) is astronomical. This is a boring purchase, sure, but it would be a lifesaver.
Grove Cooperative

Home Essentials subscription

In an effort to make cleaning and maintaining my home as easy as possible, I’m looking for solutions that take the guesswork out of the entire process. With Grove, all I have to do is select the products I need and they will be delivered straight to my door. Since each product ships on a flexible schedule, I will only get the products I need exactly when I need them. I also love that every Grove product is chosen with sustainability And Affordability into account. It really is the perfect solution.

I am sold out on The Home Edit Store Solution. I love that this startup option allows me to customize my collection to fit my space and needs.

Bottom Cabinet Organizer Starter Kit

While my house isn’t (yet) equipped with lower cabinet drawers, this solution makes this particular upgrade unnecessary. This system will keep all of my pots and pans close at hand. No more rustling in the closet while my knees are screaming in pain.
