The new Fisker Ronin EV convertible arrives with a range of up to 660 miles

American electric car company Fisker has lifted the lid on its highly anticipated flagship Ronin, an all-electric four-seat, four-door convertible that promises up to 660 miles of range on a single charge. The vehicle’s unique design will put it in one category when it arrives in 2024 and joins the brand’s lineup alongside the Ocean SUV.

Initially looking like a fixed-head four-door GT car earlier this year, the latest photo shows that the Fisker is indeed a convertible. As a result, the Ronin will be a one-of-a-kind machine, with no other manufacturer offering this unique design with an all-electric powertrain. There’s no word on power output yet, but the company has revealed that the car will have three motors and be capable of 0-62mph in less than two seconds.

The Ronin was designed by brand CEO Henrik Fisker, who also crafted the BMW Z8 and several Aston Martin models. Despite its electric underpinnings, the Ronin appears to adopt similar proportions to a traditional front-engined GT. There is a long hood and a sharp, pointed nose, with multi-element LED lights integrated into the bumper.

The hood rises above the front wheels and into the steep windshield, the Ronin is equipped with a pair of slender digital door mirrors and active aerodynamics systems. The closing line visible along the wings indicates that the new sports car will be a four-door model in the mold of Fisker’s first production car, the Karma, starting in 2011. One of the big challenges for the team is engineering a chassis strong enough to pass crash regulations, while also introducing the unique four-door design. In particular, the lack of a B-pillar would require a heavily reinforced floor to allow the vehicle to withstand side impacts. As a result, Ronin likely used a lot of strong and light materials in its construction, such as carbon fibre.

Adding to the bespoke vehicle’s allure will be what President Henrik Fisker calls “unique doors for better entry and exit.” While he refuses to delve into this, the Ronin likely features a Rolls Royce-style rear hinge design. The car is also designed to comfortably seat four passengers, with room for luggage. It was also revealed that the luxurious interior will feature vegan materials in an effort to enhance the model’s environmental sustainability.

According to Henrik Fisker, with a target number of 660 miles, the large Tourer could also provide the longest range of any production EV, thanks to a battery pack integrated into the bodyshell: “The goal is to achieve the world’s longest production EV range, along with extremely high levels of performance. The Ronin project will be a showcase of our in-house engineering capabilities, our powertrain, and our software,” said the CEO.

Ronin’s development will be carried out by the brand’s engineering center in the UK, called Fisker Magic Works. Under the guidance of David King, the former CEO of Aston Martin, the division will also be tasked with the engineering behind programs for other low-volume, fast-developing vehicles and special editions of Fisker models – a brief similar to King’s previous work where he was responsible for Aston Martin Special Operations.

Speaking of the Magic Works division, Fisker previously said that the brand is “cruising at full speed to deliver four distinct vehicle lines by 2025, driving innovation forward and driving radical new ideas into the global automotive market. Fisker Magic Works offers us an opportunity to create sustainable and outstanding vehicles outside Boundaries of existing industry sectors.

Fisker also explained that the price of the final production car is “just under $200,000” or just under £160,000 when it goes into production in the second half of 2024.
